William "Bill" Carl Salyers

William “ Bill" Carl Salyers age 77 of Sandy Hook, Ky passed away Thursday, September 16,2021 at his residence. Mr. Salyers was born April 26, 1944 in Elliott County, Kentucky a son of the late William Ison Salyers and Dexter Johnson Wilson. Bill was a devoted Christian and a member of the Walnut Grove Community Church where he served as former pastor and been in ministry for 53 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, gardening, his chickens, and loved watching birds from the front porch. Bill was known as a jack of all trades, and his ability to do anything he set his mind upon, his talent with metal working was extraordinary. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by two grandsons; Infant Brian Keith Harlow and Shawn Litton. He is survived by his loving wife Betty Lewis Salyers, three sons and spouses ; Darrell Salyers of Lawrence Co, Kentucky, Mark and Tina Litton and John and Tana Litton all of Sandy Hook, Kentucky, four daughters and spouses; Shirley and Jimmy Harlow of Winchester, Kentucky, Carol Paholasky of Sandy Hook, Kentucky, Rita and Sam Smith of Ashland, Kentucky and Martha Holbrook of Sandy Hook, Kentucky. Three brothers and spouses; Amos and Faye Salyers, Johnny Salyers, and Jeff and Charolette Salyers all of Sandy Hook, Kentucky, Five sisters and spouses; Shirley and Rudy Whitt of Columbus, Ohio, Myrtle Quisenberry, and Dorothy Salyers both of Morehead, Kentucky, Nancy Berry of Grayson, Kentucky and Betty Sue Salyers of Sandy Hook, Kentucky. One special girl who was like his own; Allie Sargent of Sandy Hook, Kentucky. Fourteen grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren along with a host of extended family, neighbors, church family and friends who will sadly mourn his passing. Funeral services will be held 12:00 noon Monday, September 20, 2021 at Whitt & Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Eddie Keeton and Bro. Scott Litton officiating. Burial will follow in the Lewis Family Cemetery on B.L Lewis Road. Friends may visit after 6:00 p.m. Sunday, September 19, 2021 and after 10:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers are; Zach Paholsky, James Harlow, Carl Harlow, Jonathan Litton, Jarrod Holbrook, Jacob Holbrook, Joseph Litton, and Pete Smith. Due to Covid-19 rising in the community wearing a mask and practicing social distancing is highly recommended. Funeral service will be live streamed via Facebook at Whitt & Sons Funeral Home page.
