Marie Burton Howard

Marie Burton Howard age 87 of Sandy Hook, Kentucky passed away Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky. Mrs. Howard was born July 05, 1937, in Elliott County, Kentucky a daughter of the late William Harmon and Vicie Stevens Burton. Marie lived a life filled with faith and family. A devout Christian of the non-denominational faith, she found solace and strength in her beliefs, which guided her through life's joys and challenges. Her greatest joy was her family. As a homemaker, she dedicated her life to creating a warm and loving home for her family and cherished every moment spent with them. The love she shared extended to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought immense happiness to her life. Marie possessed a quiet strength and gentle spirit. She found peace and contentment in the simple pleasures of life, particularly those spent outdoors. Her vibrant garden was a testament to her nurturing nature, where she delighted in tending her flowers and observing the beauty of the natural world, especially the birds she so patiently watched. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of forty years; James Kendall Howard, and in-laws; Kendall and Mavis Howard. She is survived by three daughters: Della Conner of Morehead, Kentucky, Mavis Howard of Sandy Hook, Kentucky, Lucy Greer (Neil) of Grayson, Kentucky. Four grandchildren; Jaime Miko (Chris), David Dyke (Stefanie) of Grayson, Kentucky, T.J Conner of Morehead, Kentucky, and Kasey Greer of Grayson, Kentucky. Great grandchildren: Kendall, James, Haylee, Autumn, Jackson, Parker, Lincoln, and Casen along with a host of extended family members family and friends who will sadly mourn her passing. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 23, 2025, at Whitt & Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Sister Ruthie Topinka, and Sister Marjorie Lehman officiating. Burial will follow in the Elliott County Memory Gardens. Friends may visit from 12 noon until the service hour Thursday at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers are David Dyke, James Dyke, T.J. Conner, Charles Burton, Chris Miko, and Andy Burton.
