Johnny Roger Porter

Johnny Roger Porter, age 72, of Sandy Hook, Kentucky passed away Monday, February 13, 2023 at his residence. Mr. Porter was born September 11, 1950 in Isonville, Kentucky a son of the late John Jordan and Cora Mae Wagoner Porter. Roger was of the Baptist faith and worked as maintenance for Isonville school for many years, he was truly fond of his job and liked to talk about it even after he retired. He enjoyed fishing, driving for hours just to admire the scenery, most of all he loved his family and spending time with all of his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and friends. In addition to his parents he is proceded in death by two children; Matthew Porter, Melanie Skaggs, one granddaughter; Brittney Dickerson, three brothers; Buddy Alfred Porter, Wayne Porter, Kenneth Porter, two sisters; Yvone Porter, Rosemary Porter, and two son-in-laws; Robert West and William Newell. Roger is survived by his loving wife of 50 years; Ellen Porter, one special K9 companion; Oscar Porter, one son; Mackenzie Corey Porter of Isonville, Kentucky, five daughters; Melissa Wagoner (Terry) of Isonville, Kentucky, Shelly Newell (Mike) of Sandy Hook, Kentucky, Melinda Mae West of Sandy Hook, Kentucky, Miranda Lauren White (Leslie) of Hazel Green, Kentucky, Megan Porter (Charlie) of Booneville, Kentucky, sixteen grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, one brother; Charles Newt Porter of Sandy Hook, Kentucky, one sister; Daisy Mae Porter of Sandy Hook, Kentucky, a very special niece; Katie Wagoner, one special friend; Glen Dale Wagoner along with a host of extended family and friends whom will sadly mourn his passing. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 18, 2023 at Whitt & Sons Funeral Home with Bro. Chris Harper officiating. Burial will follow at the Porter Cemetery in Isonville, Kentucky. Friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 18, 2023 until the hour of service. Serving as pallbearers will be Mackenzie Porter, Randy Pelfrey, Issac Newell, Anthony Wagoner, Brandon Carter, Jordan White, and Terry Sparks. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Leslie White, Mike McClurg, Randy Gumm, Charles Porter, Jeff Burge, and Charlie Rice.
