Joe Mitchell Lester

Joe Mitchell Lester age 86 of Isonville, Kentucky went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, April 30, 2025, in Elliott County, Kentucky. Mr. Lester was born March 25, 1939, in Lawrence County, Kentucky a son of the late Vinson and Easter Skaggs Lester. Joe was a born-again Christian, a member of Middle Fork Church of God. He was a retired pipefitter, a member of Local Union #430 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He loved fishing, witnessing for the Lord every chance he got, always looking for an opportunity to uplift the name of Jesus and to see lost souls saved. Spending time with his family and being with his church family was a special time for him. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Ishmael Lester, William Lester, Harmon Lester, and Ilene Hamm. Grandson; Russell Joe Lester, II, and great-great grandsons; Joseph Ryan Lester, and Rayden Kole McDowell. He is survived by his loving wife of twenty-five years; Reva Thornberry Lester of Isonville, Kentucky, two sons; Russell Lester of Iowa, and Richard Lester of Isonville, Kentucky. Two daughters; Diane McDowell and Jenny Lewis (Ricky) all of Sandy Hook, Kentucky. One sister; Pauline Wheeler of Blaine, Kentucky, two brothers; Ronald Lester of Blaine, Kentucky, and Donald Lester (Peggy) of Olive Hill, eleven grandchildren, thirty-six great grandchildren, and twenty-eight great-great grandchildren along with a host of extended family and friends who will sadly mourn his passing. Funeral services will be held 12:00 noon Monday, May 05, 2025, at Middle Fork Church of God with Bro. Rodney McDowell and Bro. Don Burton officiating. Burial will follow in the Erma Lewis Cemetery at Isonville. Friends may visit after 11:00 a.m. Sunday - Monday until the service hour at the church. Serving as pallbearers are Skylar Lester, Leland Lester, Wesley McDowell, Nathan McDowell, Ricky Lewis, Jr. and James Doolin. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Rylan McDowell, Christian McDowell, Bentley Thornberry, Darren Moore, Eddie Holbrook, John Conley, Terry Sparks, George Moore, Jaybird Doolin, Jim Thompson, Dave Ball, John Randolph, Luke Meade, James Middleton, Andrew Middleton, Ricky Lewis, Sr, Josh Lewis, and Aaron Randolph.
