Doris Peggy Adkins

Doris Ann "Peggy" Adkins age 72 of Sandy Hook, Kentucky fell asleep and went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at her residence. Mrs. Adkins was born October 31, 1943 at Stark, Kentucky a daughter of the late Jake and Anna May Littleton Wagoner. Preceding her in death are Four infant brothers. Dillard, John, Edd, and Ollie Wagoner. Four sisters; Lucille Wilson, Opal Blevins, Jean Bocook, and Mary Wagoner. Surviving are her children and their spouses who adored and cherished her, Ricky Adkins, Melissa (Neal) Jenkins, Carolyn (Vester) Fultz, and Janie (Sidney) Lewis all of Sandy Hook, Kentucky. She was a loving grandmother to five grandsons and their spouses who she loved with all her heart, Zachary (Nicole) Mayse, Nathan (Kimberly) Moore, Gabe (Miranda) Lewis, Blake (Bethany) Lewis and Dalton Lewis. Five precious great-grandchildren who she adored, Hallie and Abby Mayse, Gaige Moore, Tatum Lewis and Liam Mayse who is on the way. Two special sisters, Betty Dunaway of Sandy Hook, Kentucky and Jalana Lawhun of Mansfield, Ohio. She leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will sadly mourn her passing. Peggy had a special place in her heart for some people she cared for as children and often spoke fondly of them. Nikki and Jennie Williams, Randi and Katherine White, Jackie, Travis, and Rebecca Brown. and Keith Centers. Peggy loved the Lord and attended the United Methodist Church in Sandy Hook for over 30 years. While there she found and cherished a lifelong relationship with two very special people, Warren and Elaine Vanover, and also all of her church family. Peggy was a gentle soul and a blessing to all, never selfish and always loving and kind. She centered her life around her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed going camping, shopping, and watching UK and the Elliott Co. Basketball team. She will be treasured and remembered by them forever. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at Waddell & Whitt Funeral Home in Sandy Hook with Bro. Warren Vanover and Bro. Jeff Lambert officiating. Burial will follow in the Elliott Co. Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. Monday, And after 9 a.m. until the service hour on Tuesday at the Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers; Zachary Mayse, Nathan Moore, Gabe Lewis, Blake Lewis, Dalton Lewis, and Timmy Thornsberry.
