Delmar Hay

Delmar Hay, age 77 of Isonville, Kentucky passed away peacefully on Monday, August 22, 2011 at Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky. He fought an ongoing battle with his sickness for many months. Mr Hay was born June 8, 1934 in Isonville, Kentucky, a son of the late Ervin and Mausia Kelley Hay. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by four brothers, Darrell Hay, Elza Hay, Evan Hay and Earl Hay; one son-in-law, Terry Waits. He worked for the Bradley Family, through 3 generations, where he later retired from the oil and gas well drilling company as well as a heavy equipment operator. He also worked many years in the construction industry where he built highways and underground tunnels in Columbus, Ohio. He attended Newcombe Valley Enterprise Baptist Church. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Juanita Adkins Hay of Isonville, Kentucky; three daughters and sons-in-law, Jacqueline and Timothy Hutchinson of Sandy Hook, Kentucky, Carolyn Waits of Isonville, Kentucky, Roberta and John F. Whitley of Isonville, Kentucky; two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Kathy Hay of Isonville, Kentucky, Wayne and Debbie Hay of Martha, Kentucky; one brother, Ishmal Hay of Lancaster, Ohio; one sister, Loena Hay of Isonville, Kentucky; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and many family and friends. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the employees at KDMC who brought him such comfort during his final days. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 27, 2011 in the chapel of Waddell & Whitt Funeral Home with Brother Jerry Porter and Brother Mike Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Elliott County Memory Gardens in Sandy Hook, Kentucky. Friends may call after 6:00 p.m Friday until the service hour at the funeral home. Phillip Hay, Joseph Hay, Mikey Hay, Brian Scripter, Alvin Gillium, Blake Fultz, Taylor Burke and Rodney Ison will serve as pallbearers. Ernie Hay, Brier Whitley, Little Jack Whitley, Jacob Whitley, Timothy Hutchinson, Zeb Burke, Jack Whitley, Bill Whitley, Johnny Whitley, Paul Thornberry and Richard "Bigum" Barker will serve as honorary pallbearers. www.waddellandwhitt.com
