Bessie Bowling Howard

Bessie May Bowling Howard age 91 of Sandy Hook, Kentucky passed away Friday morning, May 31, 2013 at Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky. She was born June 05, 1921 in Elliott County, Kentucky a daughter of the late George and Susan Conn Bowling. In additon to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years; Harve Howard, one son; Harvey Delmaine Howard, one daughter; Wanda Lou Howard, four brothers; Bascom Bowling, Ranson Bowling, Randolph Bowling, and James Bowling. Two sisters; Cora Kline and Ethel Conn. Bessie was a homemaker and enjoyed crafts, quilting, crocheting, knitting, gardening, and of course canning fruits and vegetables. She loved her family and always looked forward to having all of her children and grandchildren come in for holidays or just anytime. She was a Christian and a member of the Fanning Enterprise Baptist Church in Elliott County where she fellowshipped with her brothers and sisters in the Lord. She spent the last several years in the Elliott Nursing and Rehab Center in Sandy Hook. Her children came to visit quiet often to make sure things were going ok. She is survived by five sons and daughters inlaw; Kenneth and Marlene Howard of New Carlisle, Ohio, Carl Howard of Sandy Hook, Kentucky, J.D. and Kathy Howard of Morehead, Kentucky, Donal and Doretha Howard of Flemingsburg, Kentucky and Glenis "Megal" and Crystal Howard of Sandy Hook, Kentucky. Two daughters and sons inlaw; Garnetta and Jackie Thompson of Jeffersonville, Kentucky, and Debra and Cecil Adkins of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. Seventeen grandchildren, and fourty great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild along with a host of extended family members and friends who will sadly mourn her passing. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m Tuesday, June 04, 2013 at Fannin Enterprise Baptist Church with Bro. George Stafford and Bro. Billy T. Rice officiating. Interment will follow in the Elliott County Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 6:00-9:00 p.m Monday evening at Waddell & Whitt Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church.
