Ballard Martin Lewis

Ballard Martin Lewis, age 88, of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky passed away Monday, February 21, 2022, at University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. Mr. Lewis was born February 12, 1934, in Elliott County, Kentucky a son of the late Riley and Mary Stephens Lewis. Ballard attended Neal Howard's Creek church. He was employed at General Motors in Dayton, Ohio, where he retired in 1996, after 40 years, served his country in the Army for two years and belonged to the VFW Club 11428 in Sandy Hook, Kentucky. Along with his parents, Ballard was preceded in death by one daughter, Wilma Gay Lewis, five brothers, Ray Lewis, Virgil Lewis, Rulie Lewis, Henry Lewis, Lester Lewis, four sisters, Florence Smith, Hazel Lewis, Zora Parton, Goldie Conley and two wives, Ivetta Lewis and Carolyn Lewis. Ballard is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Nina Lou Markwell Reynolds Lewis, one son, Timmy Reynolds and wife Crystal of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, one daughter, Debbie and husband Rob Ross of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, one brother, Jay and wife Jeanette Lewis of Chillicothe, Ohio, one sister, Reba Blankenship of Sandy Hook, Kentucky, three grandchildren, Parrish Dean Lewis of Dayton, Ohio, Amanda and husband Trevor Dennis of Morehead, Kentucky, Shalana Callahan of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, four great grandchildren, Zander Reynolds of Morehead, Kentucky, Pepper Haney of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, Penelope Dennis and Kenley Dennis of Morehead, Kentucky, along with a host of family and friends who will sadly mourn his passing. The funeral will be held Friday, February 25, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at Whitt and Sons Funeral Home in Sandy Hook, Kentucky with brother Tim Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow in the Elliott County Memory Gardens in Sandy Hook, Kentucky with military rites by the VFW Club 11428. Friends may visit Friday, February 25, 2022, from 12:00 p.m. until the service hour at Whitt and Sons Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers are Parrish Lewis, Billy Harmon, Zander Reynolds, Timmy Reynolds, Rob Ross and Dwayne Moore. Honorary pallbearers are Jay Lewis, Wayne Lewis, Bob Skaggs, Roger Lewis, Jack Smith, Ron Smith, Johnie Markwell and Willie Markwell. At the request of the family, they would appreciate if everyone would wear a mask.
