Bro. William Travis "Billy T." Rice

March 19, 1939 - July 31, 2020

Bro. William Travis (Billy T.) Rice age 81 of Sandy Hook, Kentucky faithful servant of God left this world Friday July 31, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Rice was born March 19, 1939 in Elliott County, Kentucky a son of the late James and Lyda Kendall Rice. He proudly served in the United States Army in the D.C area from 1958-1960 helping to win several awards and trophies for his rifle team. His love of shooting was constant throughout his life. Bill’s greatest love was serving the Lord, he was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Laurel Gorge Enterprise Baptist Church. He served in many capacities over the years in the local communities and neighboring states, helping to lead many lost souls to the Lord. Bill considered his family one of his greatest blessings and loved spending time with them. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, and loved to be outdoors, whether on the lake, in the woods, or on the family farm. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his first wife of forty-nine years Juanita Mayse Rice. He is survived by his wife of ten years; Fern Wagoner Rice of Sandy Hook, Kentucky, two daughters and spouses; Teresa and Athene Bowling of Girard, Illinois, Marianne and Chris McGlone of Garrison, Kentucky, two step-sons and spouses; Randy and Tonya Wagoner of Morehead, Kentucky, Rick and Callie Wagoner of Hillsboro, Kentucky, two brothers and spouses; Bobby and Judie Rice of Columbia, Kentucky, Jimmy and Melissa Rice of Sandy Hook, Kentucky, seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren. Bill was a wonderful husband father, grandfather, great grandfather he will be sadly missed and mourned by all who knew him, but we know his heavely welcome will be joyful. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 05, 2020 at Whitt & Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Randy Wagoner officiating. Burial will follow in the Elliott County Memory Gardens. Friends may visit from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 04, 2020 and from 11:00 a.m. Wednesday until the service hour at the funeral home. Masonic rites will be held at 7:00 p.m. Due to Covid19 we ask that everyone wear a mask, and practice social distancing and we will only be allowing our maximum capacity. Whitt & Sons Funeral Home is honored to serve the Rice family.
