Ruby Flannery Carter Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Ruby Flannery Carter, age 78, of Sandy Hook, Kentucky, passed from us into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Saturday morning, October 10, 2009, at her residence, after a long illness. Mrs. Carter was born August 30, 1931, in Elliott County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late John and Anna Whitt Flannery. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul Flannery, Edgar Flannery and Johnny Flannery; two sisters, Dorothy Flannery and Juanita Reynolds; one son-in-law, Garry D. Littleton. She was of the Pentecostal faith and attended the Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ at Lytten, Kentucky. Ruby cherished working on their farms with her husband and children and was also an avid gardener. She was a blessing to her family, raising her seven children and spending time with her grandchildren. Surviving is her loving family, including her husband of sixty years, Stanley Carter; four sons and daughters-in-law, Paul D. Carter, Larry J. and Ella Carter, Roger Carter all of Sandy Hook, Kentucky, Raymond A. and Debbie Carter of Lovely, Kentucky; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Elijah Hall, Jr. of Sandy Hook, Kentucky, Judy and Bret Hardwick of Ponce Inlet, Florida, Lovena and Ronald Bailey of Pembroke Pines, Florida. Also a special care giver who had been with her for five years; Shirley Harlow; seventeen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends who will sadly mourn her passing. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 13, 2009, at Waddell & Whitt Funeral Home in Sandy Hook, Kentucky with Brother John Horton officiating. Burial will follow in the Marvin Pennington Cemetery on South Ruin Road. Friends may call after 6:00 p.m. Monday and anytime until the service hour Tuesday at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers are her grandsons, Anthony Littleton, Benjamin Littleton, Jason Carter, Joseph Carter, Steven Bailey, Thomas Hardwick and Bryon Carter.
