Ronald Dale Adkins

March 9, 1946 - January 7, 2019

Ronald Dale "Trail Blazer" Adkins age 72 of Sandy Hook, Kentucky passed away Monday, January 07, 2019 at ARH in West Liberty, Kentucky. Mr. Adkins was born March 09, 1946 in Elliott County, Kentucky a son of the late William Ransom and Ruby Belle Stevens Adkins. he dedicated 36 years to Morehead State University as a maintenance engineer. When he wasn't making joyous memories with his friends at the Frosty Freeze, Robo's, and other local hangouts, he enjoyed music and western movies. He was an avid collector of model cars...and real ones too! As a man of Christian faith, Dale has been the member of many congregations, including Neal Howard's Creek Church. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his sister in law: Betty Adkins, and brother-in-law Arlie Harding. He is survived by two children one son: Patrick Dale Adkins and wife Erin of Johnson City, Tennessee, one daughter: Samantha Wright and her companion Ronald Newell of Sandy Hook, Kentucky, two brothers: Sammy Adkins and Glen Adkins of Sandy Hook, Kentucky, two sisters: Marcella & Everett Wilder of Sandy Hook, Kentucky, Molly Hardin of West Liberty, Kentucky. Dale was blessed with 6 grandchildren: Robert Corey Wright, Abigail Mae Wright, Ashley Salyers Price, Jesey Salyers, Mary Della Jubilee Adkins and Beatrice Adkins: as well as 6 great grandchildren: Jacob Corey Wright, Mason, Brandy, Ali, and Abram Price: and Erick Corbin Martinez. Dale had many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends he loved so dearly. He will be remembered for his quick wit, his infectious laughter, and his kind and compassionate spirit. "Trailblazer" will be sadly missed for there was never a stanger met, nor a friend forgotten. Funeral services will be conducted at 11a.m. Thursday January 10, 2019 in the Chapel of Waddell and Whitt Funeral Home with Brother Dean Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in the Adkins Family Cemetery on Neal Howards Creek Road. Family will receive friends at 6pm Wednesday January 9, 2019. Pallbearers are Joey Preston, Doug Preston, Jack "Cadillac" Smith, Jimmy Whitt, Wesley Lewis, and Sammy Crisp. Honorary Pallbearers are Rocky Horton, Percy Pennington, Steven Whitt, Corey Wright, Glen Carter, Barry P. Hall, Robin Craft, Abbey Wright, Dale "Hammer" Smith and Todd Carter.
