Ramona Carter

Ramona Almira Carter, age 77 of Sandy Hook, departed this life on Sunday, April 17, 2016 at her residence. Ms. Carter was born May 16, 1938 in Elliott County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Sanford Dewey and Linda Mae (Horton) Carter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Tennyson Carter. She was of the Pentecostal faith and attended the Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ at Lytten, Kentucky and Calvary Temple Church in Olive Hill, Kentucky. Ramona cherished working in her garden, sewing, quilting and also making many of her own clothes. She took joy in growing her flowers and loved her cats. She was a blessing to her family, friends and to everyone who knew her. She became a Christian when she was 11 years old and has always given honor and glory to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Survived by her loving family, includes her three brothers, Stanley Dewey Carter, Edgar Lee Carter both of Sandy Hook, Kentucky, and Fred Vinson Carter of New Carlisle, Ohio. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbors and friends who will sadly mourn her passing. She will be missed by her church family, the Senior Citizens center staff and participants, whom she loved and cherished. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, on April 22, 2016 at Waddell & Whitt Funeral Home in Sandy Hook, Kentucky with Brother Daniel Carter officiating. Burial will follow in the Marvin Pennington Cemetery on South Ruin Road in Elliott County. Friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. Friday until the service hour at the funeral home.
