Gerald Eugene Evans,Jr. age 50 of HC 70 Sandy Hook, Kentucky passed away Saturday morning April 10, 2010 at his residence. Mr. Evans was born July 07, 1959 in Portsmouth, Ohio a son of Patricia Bevis Cooper and stepfather Lonnie of West Portsmouth, Ohio and Gerald Eugene Evans,Sr. and stepmother Patricia of Piketon, Ohio. Gerald was a great muscian a major inspiration and mentor to everyone who never turned his back on compassion for what he believed. He was a professional muscian, retired plant supervisor at JBM in Cinncinnati, Ohio, a member of Hepburn Masonic Lodge #576 in Sandy Hook, Kentucky, he served six years in the the United States Air Force based in Minot, North Dakota and a member of Beechyfork Christian Baptist Church in Bluecreek, Ohio. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents; Hiram and Lillian McGraw Bevis, Paternal grandparents; Delbert and Ida Conley Evans, Brother;Jeff Strawser,Cousin and best friend; Randy Picklesimer. He is survived by his loving wife; Tracey Movee Horton Evans of Sandy Hook, Kentucky, Eight children; Rebecca Evans, and Valerie Evans both of Portsmouth, Ohio, Stephanie Evans and Emily Evans both of Hendersonville, Tennessee, Matthew Evans of Lucasville, Ohio, Brandon Griffith, Jim Griffith, and Noel Whisman all of Sandy Hook, Kentucky. Three brothers; Gregory Evans of Rush, Kentucky, Patrick Evans of West Portsmouth, Ohio, and Harry Strawser of Piketon, Ohio. One sister; Lori Kellenberger of Piketon, Ohio. Seven grandchildren; Wayne Evans, Jerome Evans, Keima Bennett, Keion Mardis,Gabriel Evans,Jaden Ison, and Ian David Griffith along with a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will sadly mourn his passing. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m Tuesday, April 13, 2010 in the chapel of the Waddell & Whitt Funeral Home in Sandy Hook with Bro. Rick May and Bro. John Horton officiating. Burial will follow in the John W. Horton Cemetery on South Ruin. Rocky Horton, Jeff Horton, Mark Horton, Johnny Horton, Duane Sparks, Mark Rader, Ray Craft, and Matt "Moe" Evans will serve as pallbearers. His many family and friends will serve as honorary pallbearers. Friends may call after 5:00 p.m Monday, April 12, 2010 and after 9:00 a.m Tuesday til the service hour at the funeral home.
