Ernest Herman Fannin, age 80 of Sandy Hook, Kentucky passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at his residence. He was born December 27, 1933 at Newfoundland, Kentucky a son of the late Ernest Clell Fannin and Nancy Simmons Fannin. Ernest attended Mount Pleasant United Baptist church. He was a United States Army Veteran, he was a construction worker and he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by one grandson, Samuel Edward Gregory; and three sisters, Omega Lambert, Madge Nantz, Nancy Cooley. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Eva Skaggs Fannin; two sons and daugthers-in-law, David Cline and Jennifer Fannin of Paris, Tennessee and Arthur Earnest and Renee Fannin of Sandy Hook, Kentucky; four daughters and sons-in-law, Benita and Larry Gregory of Morehead, Kentucky, Carole and Ricky Tackett of Grayson, Kentucky, Cathy and Hal Fuqua of Murray, Kentucky, and Connie Mae and Allen Cassity of London, Kentucky; two brothers, Paul Fannin of North Carolina and Harold Fannin of Morehead, Kentucky; two sisters, Ruby Dixon of Springfield, Ohio and Clara Bell Taylor of Morehead, Kentucky; eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, February 15, 2014 in the Chapel of Waddell & Whitt Funeral Home with Brother Frank Blevins, Brother Jamie Litteral, and Brother Daris Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in the Fannin-Simmons Cemetery in Sandy Hook, Kentucky. Friends may visit from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, February 14, 2014 and after 9 a.m. Saturday until the service hour at the funeral home. Military Rites will be conducted by the Elliott Co. VFW Post #11428 at the funeral home. Grandsons and sons-in-laws will serve as pallbearers. www.waddellandwhitt.com
