Dona "Junie" Adkins Jr.

Dona "Junie" Adkins Jr., age 80, of Sandy Hook, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, December 21, 2017, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead, Kentucky. He was born April 19, 1937 in Lewis County, Kentucky a son of the late Dona and Lula Gibbs Adkins. Junie attended Wells Creek Baptist Church and was a retired self employed businessman. He enjoyed playing pool, going to church and spending time with his family. In additions to his parents he is preceded in death by four brothers, Emery Adkins, Claude Adkins, Eugene Adkins and Sammy Adkins; one sister, Ivory Keeton. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Madeline Pennington Adkins; one daughter and son in law, Linda and Jimmy Stephens of Sandy Hook, Kentucky; one brother and sister in law, J.C. and Thelma Adkins of West Liberty, Kentucky; one sister, Euladean Prater of Sandy Hook, Kentucky; two grandchildren, Melinda (Mike) Sexton, Scott (Kim) Skaggs; five great grandchildren, Hailey Sexton, Jaden Sexton, Alex Skaggs, Allison Skaggs and Ryan Skaggs. Funeral services will be held 1 pm, Wednesday, December 27, 2017 in the Chapel of Waddell and Whitt Funeral Home with Brother Joe Gilliam and Brother Tim Porter officiating. Burial will follow in the Skaggs Family Cemetery. Friends may visit after 6 pm on Tuesday and after 9 am on Wednesday until the service hour at the funeral home. Pallbearers: Tony Gilliam, Mike Sexton, Jaden Sexton, Joe Adkins, Ronnie Stephens, Alex Kitchen. Honorary Pallbearers: Hailey Sexton, Alex Skaggs, Allison Skaggs, Ryan Skaggs, Wells Creek Youth Group.
