Billy David Prater age 90 of Sandy Hook, Kentucky passed away Saturday afternoon, December 7, 2013 at his residence. He was born January 4, 1923 a son of the late Ollie and Mattie Adams Prater. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by 2 infant brothers, 3 sisters; Justine Hall, Betty Jean Little, and Helen Prater. Billy was a Christian and of the Pentecostal faith. He was an Army Veteran of World War II and a member of the Portsmouth Plummer and Pipefitter Local #577. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Eula Adkins Prater of Sandy Hook, Kentucky; one son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Shirley Prater of Sandy Hook, Kentucky; three daughters and son-in-law, Janie Lacy of West Liberty, Kentucky, Barbara and Jon Hatton of Lexington, Kentucky, Melissa Mathis of Gaastra, Michigan; 7 Grandchildren and 1 Great-Grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, December 12, 2013 in the chapel of Waddell & Whitt Funeral Home in Sandy Hook, Kentucky with Brother Eugene Haney officiating. Burial will follow in the Prater Family Cemetery at Sandy Hook, Kentucky. Friends may call from 5:00 - 9:00 PM Wednesday, December 11, 2013 and after 9:00 AM Thursday until the service hour. Military Rites will be conducted by the Elliott Co. VFW Post #11428 at the funeral home. Pallbearers are; Noah Prater, Ollie Rose, Aaron Lacy, Jason Prater, Paul Henry Brown III, and Danny Bolin. www.waddellandwhitt.com
