Willie Haskell "Hack" Holbrook

Willie Haskell "Hack" Holbrook age 81 of State Highway 504, Elliott County, Kentucky passed away April 1, 2013 at Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky. Mr. Holbrook was born December 15, 1931 in Elliott County, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his mother Crecy Jane Holbrook, Four sisters; Myrtle Stafford, Lola Whitt, Opal Flannery, and Annabelle Jones. Hack had been employed as a Carpenter and a member of the Union Local #472 in Ashland, Kentucky, he was a Christian, and attended the Fannin Enterprise Baptist Church. Hack enjoyed fishing, hunting, robbing his bees, gardening, reading, and watching Jimmy Barker out of the window wondering what he was working on or tearing up that day. The many friends are a testimony of Hack's best friend Jesus. When Sidney asked Hack to sing a song with him while he was in the hospital, he very clearly and beautifully sang "Oh How I Love Jesus". Hack was a simple man who lived a Christian life. He loved, he was truthful, he forgave, he gave of his time generously and he had what Jesus promised all of us who look to Him, the peace that passes all understanding. He is survived by his loving wife of thirty-nine years; Shirley Simmons Holbrook, one daughter and son in-law; Connie Sue and Mark Shealy of Leesville, South Carolina, one brother and sister in-law; Chester Eugene and Dorothy Holbrook of Sandy Hook, Kentucky. One granddaughter; Cayman Young of Leesville, South Carolina. Two special nephews; Paul David Walker and Richard Tyler Holbrook, along with a host of extended family, friends and neighbors who will sadly mourn his passing. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m Thursday, April 04, 2013 at Waddell & Whitt Funeral Home with Bro. George Stafford and Bro. Jason Ison officiating. Burial will follow in the Simmons Cemetery on Rowe Flatt Road. Friends may call from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m Wednesday, April 03, 2013 and after 9:00 a.m Thursday until the service hour at the funeral home. Pallbearers are: Terry Holbrook, Jimmy Barker, Mark Shealy, Bobby Whitt, Paul David Walker, and Tyler Holbrook. Honorary Pallbearers are: Joe Holbrook, Billy Richard Whitt, and Ray Barker.
