William Roger Lewis

William Roger Lewis age 53 of Isonville, Kentucky fell asleep on the wing of on angel, Sunday, May 23, 2010 at his home. Roger was born February 8, 1957 in West Liberty, Kentucky the eldest son of Lorene Ferguson Lewis of Isonville, Kentucky and the late Brother Roscoe Lewis, Jr. Roger worker along his dear daddy as his partner in the logging business, up until their retirement in the spring of 2000. Roger was preceded in death by his dear daddy, Roscoe “June” Lewis, Maternal grandparents; Leonard and Coney Brickey Ferguson and paternal grandparents; Roscoe and Vada Barker Lewis as well as one of his dearest friends Donald B. Dickerson. Roger was saved and baptized at the age of 11 and was blessed with the gifts of songwriting and playing the piano, and a voice that no doubt made the angels in heaven stand back and take notice—all which he did to glorify his Lord and Saviour. Roger sang and played with many of our local groups; The Dickersons, The Lewis Family (Hansel, Eunice and Opal), The Harvester Trio, as well as the Gospel Harmonizers. It seemed when Roger was the happiest was when he was doing what he loved, playing and singing to the glory of God and being with his beloved family. He loved to travel and for many years he and his family would make and annual trip to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, TN. Memories that we will cherish in our hearts and minds until we can all be together again. Roger lived at home with his parents, always there to help them and was such a comfort to his mother after the passing of his daddy. While he was able Roger was instrumental in the “Christmas Valley Project” his love for the holidays was contagious and soon his dream of seeing the smiles on not only the faces of the children, but of anyone who came by, was realized. His vision was so amazing, his creativity- endless, it seemed there was nothing that he could not do. Always giving it all he had at whatever he was doing. In addition to his mother he is survived by one sister and brother inlaw; Patty(Lewis) and Michael Fannin. Brothers and sisters in law; Rodney and Jennifer (Gilliam) Lewis, Ronald and Peggy ( Young) Lewis. Nephews; Donnie and Elisha (Laney) Fannin, Joshua Adam Lewis, Nathan Scott Lewis, Lucas D. Gilliam and a Great-niece-Reileigh N’shell Fannin all of Isonville, Kentucky, along with so many dear loved ones and friends who will sadly mourn his passing. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m Wednesday, May 26, 2010 in the chapel of the Waddell & Whitt Funeral Home in Sandy Hook with Bro. Gary Sparks, Bro. Russell Griffith, and his Brother Ronald Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in the Elliott County Memory Gardens. Friends may call after 6:00 p.m Tuesday, and after 9:00 a.m Wednesday until the service hour at the funeral home.
