Tanner Skaggs

Tanner Austin Skaggs, age 24, of Morehead, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, November 07, 2023 at St. Claire Medical Center in Morehead, Kentucky. Mr. Skaggs was born March 23, 1999 in Morehead, Kentucky the son of Casey and Teisha Whitt Skaggs. He is preceded in death by one brother; Rylan Gage Skaggs, and one paternal grandfather; Mitchell Ray Skaggs. Tanner was a carpenter out of Local Union 472. He liked to hunt and fish but family was a priority. He loved life and lived each day to its fullest. It started with early morning phone calls to his Mom, and after a long days work no matter how exhausted he was, coming home to Allie and his baby girl Layana Rae was his world. If Layana wanted to sing and dance, he would sing and dance and has been known to wear his polished nails proudly. He loved quality time with his brothers, one of his favorites was playing video games with them and his friends. Most importantly he enjoyed spending time with all his family and friends. He is survived by his fiancé; Allie Bortles, one daughter; Layana Rae Skaggs both of Morehead, Kentucky, his father and mother; Casey and Teisha Whitt Skaggs of Sandy Hook, Kentucky, three brothers; Brayden Ray Skaggs (Brittany) of Sandy Hook, Kentucky, Marshall Bryce Skaggs of Sandy Hook, Kentucky, Kaden Casey Skaggs of Sandy Hook, Kentucky, a paternal grandmother; Judy Waggoner Skaggs; maternal great grandparents; Aubrey and Evalena Reynolds Whitt, maternal great grandfather; Roscoe Reynolds, maternal grandparents Charles and Debbie Reynolds Whitt, along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family and friends whom will sadly mourn his passing. Funeral services will be held 12:00 noon Monday, November 13, 2023 at Whitt & Sons Funeral Chapel with Bro. Kenneth Skaggs, Bro. Kyle Burnett, and Casey Skaggs officiating. Burial will follow in the Skaggs Family Cemetery in Isonville, Kentucky. Friends may visit from 5:00 p.m. Sunday, November 12, 2023 and after 9:00 a.m. Monday, November 13, 2023 until the hour of service. Serving as pallbearers will be Brayden Skaggs, Marshall Skaggs, Kaden Skaggs, Logan Adkins, Shane Skaggs, Michael Jenkins, Andy Smith, and Kody Baker. Serving as Honorary pallbearers will be family and friends.
