Roger Owen Kelly

Captain Roger Owen Kelly Unit 135, age 63, of Sandy Hook, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, January 11,2022 at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born April 26, 1958 a son of the late George W Kelly. Roger retired as a over the road truck driver in 2007 and has dedicated his retirement to his family and his community. Roger has served the citizens of Elliott County Kentucky as a Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire fighter “Captain” for 26 years, 5 years as a Elliott County Police, Fire, and EMS Dispatcher, 5 years with Rough Terrain Rescue. He was an amazing man who loved his family and friends with his whole heart. He never thought of himself and was there for anyone in need. He will be dearly missed by not only his family but the entire community. In addition to his father he is proceded in death by three brothers; Randall Kelly, Russell Kelly, Donnie Kelly, one sister; Pamela Kelly. Roger is survived by his loving wife of 45 years; Ordella Adkins Kelly, his Mother; Wilma Skaggs Kelly of Sandy Hook, Kentucky. three sons; Christopher Kelly of Springfield, Ohio, Jason Kelly (Tammie) of Salt Lick, Kentucky, Nicholas Kelly of Morehead, Kentucky, three daughters; Tabitha Skaggs (William) of Olive Hill, Kentucky, Christina Kelly of Beavercreek, Ohio, Debbie Reed (Bill) of Isonville, Kentucky, two brothers; Lowell Kelly of Zanesville, Ohio, Roy Kelly of Naples, Florida, one sister; Sharon Maddox of Sandy Hook, Kentucky, nine grandchildren; Michael Atkinson, Keeli Howard, Chandler Kelly, Alexia Skaggs, Carson Kelly, Meadow Kelly, Mollie Kelly, Braden Barker, Evan Barker, four great grandchildren, along with a host of family and friends whom will sadly mourn his passing. Fire Fighter Honors will be held 12:30 noon Sunday, January 16, 2022 at Whitt & Sons Funeral Home in Sandy Hook, Kentucky. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Sunday, January 16, 2022 at Whitt & Sons Funeral Home in Sandy Hook, Kentucky. Burial will follow at the Kelly Family Cemetery in Lawrence County, Kentucky. Friends may visit 6:00 p.m. Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Whitt and Sons Funeral Home and Sunday, January 16, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. until the service hour. Serving as pallbearers will be; Ray Craft, Darren Newell, Bill Reed, D.J. Howard, Brandon Williamson, Scott Shephard. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be; Paul Thornsberry, Tennyson Gumm, Dustin Kelly, Donnie Kelly, Chandler Kelly, Carson Kelly.
