Roger Clyde Ison

Roger Clyde Ison, joined in heaven his mother, Granny; dad; special sister, Mae and his other siblings that went before him on October 2, 2023. He was born on February 22, 1946, the son of Bene and Lorene Oliver Ison. Clyde was the youngest of eight children. He was raised in Roscoe, Kentucky in Elliot County in a very loving and caring family. Clyde was a devoted member of Faith Baptist Church and got saved in 2012, rarely missing a service since. Clyde loved raising and caring for his vegetable garden. He gardened solely to give away his bounty to his friends and church family, or anyone in need. Every evening, after supper, he’d sit out behind the barn and watch his garden grown, waiting for a weed to pop up so he could chop it down. Clyde was a good friend to all who knew him, if they could get past his tad bit of orneriness. He loved watching people do anything and might even tell you you’re doing it wrong if you’re not doing it the way he would. If you needed his help with any job, may it be plowing or maybe even backhoe work, he was right there to help. All that knew him will have plenty of memories and stories to tell about him – mostly good ones. Clyde retired after 30 plus years of service as a pipe fitter/welder in Local 392 – Cincinnati, Ohio. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Ithel Wright Ison; sisters Ruth Heinze of Toledo, Ohio, Edna Kerekes of Toledo, Ohio and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mom and dad; brothers Joe, Lee, Willis; sisters Mae, Martha and Iva Leonard. Clyde’s family, friends, neighbors and church family will really miss his generosity and friendship. A visitation will take place at Baker-Stevens-Parramore Funeral Home, 6850 Roosevelt Ave, Middletown, Ohio 45005 on Friday, October 6, 2023 from 3:00pm-4:30pm with a funeral service to follow at 4:30pm. Pastor Matt Hinkle will be officiating the service. Services will also be held at Whitt and Sons Funeral Home 1260 North Ky 7 Sandy Hook, Kentucky 41171 on Saturday, October 7, 2023. A visitation will take place from 12:00pm-1:00pm with a funeral service to follow on Saturday at 1:00pm. Burial will take place at Elliott County Memory Gardens in Sandy Hook, Kentucky.
