Nellie Elaine White Fields

Nellie Elaine White Fields, 88, of Sandy Hook, Kentucky passed away on March 21, 2022, in Flemingsburg, Kentucky. She was born on October 7, 1933 in Culver, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Francis Marion and Flora Belle Green White. The family farm on Green Branch was home to her and nine siblings. She graduated from Sandy Hook High School in 1952. Nellie married the late Delmus Fields on January 17, 1953. Nellie devoted her life to her seven children and worked diligently farming tobacco and crops along side her husband. Nellie was an avid reader and never met a book she didn't like. A good yard sale brought a smile to her face and joy to her day. She was known to cook large meals, and there was always a seat at her table for one more. Her chicken and dumplings were a family favorite for all. After the loss of her spouse, she began the next chapter of her life at age 52 working for the Elliott County School system until her retirement at age 70. She was preceded in death by her husband Delmus Fields, in 1986, and her daughter, Sharon Sue Fields in 1976. She is survived by three sons and three daughters. Fields of Sandy Hook, KY; Marsha (Donald) Kimmet of Missoula, MT; Mark (Patty) Fields of Greenup, KY; and Jeanie (Scott) Bell of Winchester, KY. Grandkids are: Curtis, Trish, Seth, Lauren, Tiffany, Amber, Zach, Elizabeth, Josh, Lindsey, and Laken. Great-grandkids are: Hala, Johnny, Brooklyn, Ryan, Hunter, Anthony, Faith, Tristian, Wyatt, Trinity, Waverly, Brendan, Corbin, Rylee, and Emerson. In addition, she is survived by one sister, Elizabeth Maye Smith of Perryville, Kentucky; She was preceded in death by four brothers, Lowell White, Darrell White, Laurie White, and Coleman White; and four sisters, Joy Hoffman, Ferl Barker, Pauline Ison, and Faye Fields. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at Whitt and Sons Funeral Home at 12:00 with Rulie Wagoner and Dana Fields officiating. Burial will follow at the Fields Family Cemetery. Sons and grandsons will serve as pallbearers: Greg Fields, Mark Fields, Curtis Fields, Seth Adkins, Zach Fields, and Josh Fields. Honorary pallbearers are Mike Fields, Donald Kimmet, Danny Littleton, and Scott Bell. Friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until the service hour at Whitt and Sons Funeral Home in Sandy Hook, Kentucky.
