Lena Frances Delong

Lena Frances Delong, age 71, departed this life for her Heavenly home on January 17, 2023. Lena was born August 13, 1951, the daughter of the late Berlin Frances Manning and the late Elsie Irene Ferguson. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two daughters, Belinda Jo Duncan and Krishna Dawn Wipert, one brother-in-law David Woodrow Thompson, her maternal grandparents, Roy and Hazel Wright, and her paternal grandparents, Bill Young Manning and Nulah Stafford. Lena is survived by her loving husband, William (Bill) Delong; one daughter, Erica (Royce) Collett; one sister, Katie Thompson; a son-in-law, Mark Horton; grandchildren, Cameron Griffith (Kylan), Kaleb Wipert, Brayden and Blake Collett; one great-grandson, Braxton Griffith; two sister-in-laws, Carolyn Delong and Sandy Delong; and her caregiver, Etta Moore. Lena was a 1970 graduate of Sandy Hook High School and received her business degree from Rowan County Vocational School. She worked at various positions including, the Elliott County Board of Education, Elliott County Sheriff's Office, Elliott County Judges Office, Little Sandy Correctional Complex, and Robo’s Country Store. Lena gave her heart and life to the Lord in January 2008 and attended First Baptist Church and Hope Enterprise Baptist Church, both in Sandy Hook, KY. However, her most important and joyful occupation was a wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, granddaughter, aunt and friend. She loved her family with all her heart and that love was returned fiercely by all who knew her. She will be sadly missed by all of her family and friends. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 20, 2023 at Whitt & Sons Chapel. Brother Kendall Brainard & Elder Roy Collett will be officiating. Burial will follow at the Elliott County Memory Gardens in Sandy Hook, Kentucky. Friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 20, 2023 until the service hour at Whitt & Sons Chapel in Sandy Hook, Kentucky. Pallbearers will be Royce Collett, Cameron Griffith, Kaleb Wipert, Mark Horton, Mike Copley, Brandon Griffith, Scott Moore and David Wright. Honorary Pallbearers will be Brayden and Blake Collett, Braxton Griffith, Ethan Copley, Ian Griffith, Mason and Maverick Moore.
