John Finland Whitley Jr.

The greatest Daddy, Papaw and Big Dad ever gained his wings on January 23, 2017. John "Johnny" Finland Whitley Jr. was born in Mechanicsburg, Ohio on September 30, 1939. He was the son of the late John F. "Finn" and Esta Certain Whitley. He is proceeded in death by both parents, 4 brothers, Mitchell Whitley, WilloDean Whitley, Lonnie Ray Whitley and Randy Glen Whitley; and one infant son, Johnny Ray Whitley. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Roberta Whitley; one sister, Emma Sue Lewis; two sons Jackie Dean (Kim) Whitley, Billy Joe (Jonnah) Whitley; three daughters, Sandra Dee (Paul) Thornsberry, Kristi Marie (Brian) Scripter and Brandi Sue Fultz (Rodney Ison); seven grandsons, Jackie Lee Whitley, Jacob Whitley, Alex Whitley, Jayce Whitley, Caden Whitley, Blake Fultz and Brier Finland Whitley; four granddaughters, Samantha (Nick) Childres, Emily Whitley, Jazlyn Fultz and Jadyn Fultz and one great grandson, Lincoln Oakes Childers; two brothers-in-law, Mike (Kathy) Hay and Wayne (Debbie) Hay; four sisters-in-law, Jackie (Tim) Hutchison, Carol Waits, Bonnie Whitley, Cheri Whitley and a special mother-in-law, Juanita Hay. Along with a host of family and friends that loved him dearly. John was the owner of Whitley's Painting LLC for over 50 years. He often said, "I may not be rich in wealth but I sure am in love and family". Dad was full of stories and laughter. He never met a stranger or had anything bad to say about anyone. He was the most kind, caring and loving man. Heaven sure gained a special angel. Funeral arrangements will be held 1 pm Friday, January 27, 2017 in the Chapel of Waddell & Whitt Funeral Home with Brother David Webb officiating. Burial will follow in the Whispering Pines Cemetery on Middle Fork. Friends may visit after 5 pm on Thursday and after 9 am on Friday until the service hour at the funeral home. Pallbearers: Blake Fultz, Lil' Jack Whitley, Jacob Whitley, Mikey Hay, Lil' Greg Maxie, Dakota Beair. Honorary Pallbearers: Brian Scripter, Brier Whitley, Jayce Whitley, Caden Whitley, Alex Whitley, Joe Hay, Phillip Hay, Wayne Hay, Tim Hutchinson, Mike Hay, Lincoln Childers, Taylor Burke, Nick Childers, Aaron Whitley, Paul Thornsberry, Rodney Ison, Earl Elliott, Zeb Burke, Scott Barker and Archie Edward Fultz.
