James Henry "Jim" Stephens

James Henry "Jim" Stephens age 72 of Sandy Hook, Kentucky went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, November 04, 2020. Jim was a loving, devoted husband, father, son, brother, neighbor, and friend. He loved spending time on his farm, tending his animals, hunting with his dogs, playing his music, Kentucky basketball, watching his grandchildren, and his church. Jim was a hard working man, with a reputation of a work ethic to match any as a diesel mechanic. Jim gave his heart and life to the Lord in 1969, joined as a member of Concord Enterprise Baptist, becoming a Deacon in 1980, Clerk in 2000, devoting his life and work to traveling the surrounding area with his family singing, playing his guitar to the glory of the Lord. Jim's smile was genuine and could light up the room along with his love for life. If you asked him his greatest accomplishments he would say his salvation, wife, children, and grandchildren. A humble, loving, and giving man, he devoted his life to making sure and taking pride that his family was safe, happy, and taken care of. Jim testified many times that his favorite song was "Keeper of the Door", because he believed the best job in heaven would be the doorkeeper, welcoming family and friends as they entered heaven's gates. Born November 30, 1947 to Ollie Elmer and Blanche Williams Stephens, who proceded him in death, born and raised at Broker's Neck, Kentucky until his family moved to Brown Ridge. He is also proceded in death by his father and mother in law Noah Wilson Lewis and Cloa Lewis, three brothers; Earnie Stephens, Junior Stephens, and Devon Ison, two grandchildren; James Noah Lowe and Ella Rose O'Neal. Jim is survived by his loving, devoted wife and best friend of 50 years Deborah Ann Lewis Stephens. From this marriage they were blessed with two daughters; Nancy Kaye (Terry) Sloas and Patricia Ann (Ronnie) O'Neal. Grandchildren that were his pride and joy; Christopher Shane (Kayla) Lowe, Kendra Elaine (Joseph) Litton, Jonathon David Sloas, Laura Ann (Dalton) Adkins, Christina Newell, Step-grandchildren; Melissa Pennington, Chistopher (Beverly) Sloas, Jacob and Stacy O'Neal, Great-grandchildren; Caden, Luke, Jaxon, Liam, Jaydence, and three he was excitedly eager to meet this year, two brothers; Delmas (Carol) Stephens of Dayton, Ohio, Del (Nancy) Stephens of Vandalio, Ohio, six sisters; Delma Ison of Morehead, Kentucky, Thelma Oliver of Charlotte, North Carolina, Glennis (John) Welks of Kettering, Ohio, Mary Parish of Mt.Sterling, Kentucky, Glenda (Leon) Caudill of Xenia, Ohio, Sharma (Roy) Darby of Ashland, Kentucky, two sister-in-laws; Deb Stephens of Zebulon, North Carolina, Nancy Stephens Boyd of Bonnieville, Kentucky, a very dear caretaker that he called his singing angel and adopted daughter Norah McGlone, and ALL the caretakers who loved and cared for him in his last days, along with a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 07, 2020 at Whitt & Sons Funeral Home with Bro. Ricky Lewis and Bro. Ford McKenzie officiating. Seating will be limited to half of our maximum capacity. Burial will follow in the Lewis Family Cemetery in Sandy Hook, Kentucky. Friends may visit after 5:00 p.m. Friday, November 06, 2020 and after 9:00 a.m. Saturday until the service hour. Due to Covid 19 activity escalating in the community we ask visitors to please wear a mask, maintain social distancing and keep visiting lines flowing.
