Hazel Newell Gilliam

Hazel Newell Gilliam departed this life on November 21, 2020 to be with her Lord and Savior and to be reunited with her many loved ones that are already there. She was 94 years, 10 months, and 3 days old. Hazel was born January 18, 1926 to Archie and Manda Newell in Floyd County, Kentucky. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband;Floyd Gilliam, two sons; Jamie Gilliam and Robert Keith Gilliam. Two daughters; Billie Ritchie and Charlotte Hartman. Three sons in-law; Daryl Williams, Virgil Ritchie, and Darrell Hartman. Two great granddaughters; Shannah Ison and Marissa Ison. One great- great grandson; Colton McCarty. Three brothers; Willie Newell, Arthor Clifford Newell, and Willard Newell. Hazel is survived by one daughter; Sharlene Williams of Webbville, Kentucky, one daughter in-law; Naomie Gilliam of Isonville, Kentucky, Five grandsons; Lance Ison (Cecilia) Canton, Georgia, Lawrence Ison (Margaret) of Grayson, Kentucky, Lonnie Ison of Webbville, Kentucky, Chris Gilliam and Greg Gilliam both of Isonville, Kentucky, Five granddaughters; Billie Mullins (Rodney) of Grayson, Kentucky, Jennifer Golden (Dan) of Isonville, Kentucky, Barbara Sloas (J.P.) of Isonville, Kentucky, Glenda McCarty of Louisville, Kentucky, Samantha Samuels (Creighton) of LaGrange, Kentucky. Eight great - grandsons; Sean Mullins, Bradley Mullins, Dalton Gilliam, Justin McCarty, Johnathon McCarty, Isaiah Samuels, Nicklos Samuels, and Skylar Samuels. Six great - granddaughters; Esther Ison, Amanda Ison, Brittany Skaggs, Jessica Blair, Violet Samuels, Emma Samuels. Three great-great granddaughters; Lilly Skaggs, Sophia Skaggs and Kenzie Blair, one great - great grandson; Keegan McCarty. Hazel is also survived by one brother; Luke Newell of Powell County, Kentucky, two sisters; Pearl Gilliam of Morgan County, Kentucky and Mary Anderson of Powell County, Kentucky. Hazel was a member of the Newcombe Valley Church at Isonville, Kentucky. She loved to go to church and sing gospel songs. She enjoyed working puzzle books and watching Law and Order on tv. Funeral services will be held 12:00 noon Wednesday November 25, 2020 at the Newcombe Valley Church at Isonville, Kentucky with Bro. Josh Sloas and Bro. Toby Rowe officiating. Burial will follow in the Gilliam Cemetery at Isonville. Visitation will start at 11:00 am prior to the service Wednesday following the guidelines listed below: A gathering limited to no more than 25 persons are permitted at the church and the same for the committal service. There will be no rotations at the church, attendees without a face covering will be denied entry. Seating inside the sanctuary will allow 6 feet of social distance.
