Glenna Rae Markwell

Glenna Rae Maggard Markwell age 91 of Elliott County passed away October 31, 2021 at the Elliott County nursing home. Glenna was born October 26 1930 to the late Elisha and Jewell Maggard in Elliott County. Glenna was a Christian. Retired from the Elliott County Board of Education with 40 years as a bus driver. She was also a hard working farmer. Plowing, or cutting and baling hay she was at her best. She also loved quilting made each of her kids a quilt, also as each grandchild married they received a quilt. She loved gardening and planting flowers. On Sunday afternoons there was always a fresh baked cake on the table known as a sock it to me cake. which we all enjoyed. Proceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years Alva Ray Markwell. A daughter Connie Sue Markwell, a grandson Kevin Markwell, two brothers; Jack Maggard, Charles Maggard, one sister; Ruby Maggard. Glenna is survived by one sister; Eliza Skaggs, two brothers; James Maggard, John Maggard, four daughters and their husbands; Wilma and Lewis Leadingham, Lenora and Rick Lyons, Kathy and Richard Glancy, Karen and Mattie Dehart, four sons and their wives; Ervin and Sandra Markwell, Chester and Sheila Markwell, Roger and Teresa Markwell, Logan and Stefanie Markwell, nineteen Grandchildren, and twenty two Great Grandchildren who will miss her so much. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 04, 2021 at Whitt & Sons Chapel with Bro. Brian Flannery, Bro. Tim Porter, and Rick Lyons officiating. Burial will follow in the Elliott County Memory Gardens. Friends may visit Wednesday, November 03, 2021 after 6:00 p.m. at Whitt & Sons Funeral Home and after 10:00 a.m. on Thursday until the service hour. Also a final note we appreciate two special aides; Savannah Webb (Shirley) and Angie Fultz Also her baby doll which was such a comfort to her. Mommy watched and cared for it, by her side at all times.
