Bro. Gary Dale Sparks

Bro. Gary Dale Sparks age, 72 of Sandy Hook, peacefully left this world to be with his Lord Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at Kings Daughters Medical Center, surrounded by his loved ones. Gary is survived by his wife of fifty two years, Karen Sue Ison Sparks. He is also survived by one brother, Carl and wife Mary Sparks of Sandy Hook, one sister, Janet Fay Laney also of Sandy Hook. Gary is proceded in death by his parents, Burl and Nancy Sparks, one brother, Larry David Sparks, two nieces, Miranda Oliver and Sheila Stephens, one great niece, Allie Sue McDowell, and one Great-nephew, Ashley Wyatt Laney. Gary was a born again Christian who loved the Lord and faithfully preached the gospel for 40 years. He also served as pastor of the Wallowhole Independent Baptist Church from 2009 until his death. Gary and Sue along with Lorene Lewis were blessed to travel and sing as the Harvest Trio for several years. His life was mostly filled with service for the Lord but he was an avid outdoors man who enjoyed deer and turkey hunting. He spent many quite hours in the woods communing with the Lord while waiting for that big one to come along. Gary was blessed with a talent and an ear for music. He played the banjo, guitar, and had recently taken up electric cigar box guitar. He loved his wife and family and was fervent about going to church and he expected other to go too. An empty void will be felt in Gary and Sue's home, his family, his church and the community where he spent his life. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Wallowhole Independent Baptist Church with Bro. Dwayne Laney, Bro. Franklin Gillum, & Bro. Bondy Salyers officiating. Burial will follow in the Sparks - Laney Cemetery in Sandy Hook, Kentucky. Friends may visit after 6:00 p.m. Friday, August 19, 2022 at Wallowhole Independent Baptist Church and after 9:00 a.m. Saturday, August 20, 2022 until the service hour at the church. Serving as pallbearers will be Ronnie Stephens, Billy Griffith, Dwayne Laney, Tracy Laney, Derek Griffith, Andy Skaggs, and Ronnie Oney. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Arvil Stephens and Shannon Holbrook, Danny Skaggs.
