Eithel Marie Whitt

Mrs. Eithel Marie Waddell Whitt, age 83, of Elliott County, Kentucky passed away Monday, August 26, 2024, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, West Virginia. Mrs. Whitt was born August 09, 1941, in Elliott County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Everett and Lilly Elizabeth Stevens Waddell. Eithel was a born again Christian and was a member of the Upper Bruin Baptist Church where she was actively involved for many years teaching Sunday School, and youth group and singing in the choir, she also enjoyed attending Little Fork United Baptist Church when possible. She was retired from the Elliott County Board of Education where she had worked for over 30 years at Lakeside Elementary in the cafeteria doing one of the things she loved most cooking, spreading her pleasantness, and bringing smiles to so many children over years alongside her fellow co-workers who seemed more like family Susie Simmons, Shirley Lewis, and Juanita Flannery. Together they always made sure all the kids who might not seen an abundance of something to eat at home had a “little extra” until the next school day so there was no worry of them going to sleep hungry. Always quick to be the first to hold a new baby or the natural draw to a little child to her lap she was a sure to do so. She always loved the holidays cooking and being with her family, any church function or event she was sure to whip up her famous homemade rolls, bread, pies, anything she encountered was sure to be touched with much love and natural sweetness. She loved her family immensely, a special time for her was being with any one relative and she was proud to acknowledge every and would gladly tell you just how they were related. Eithel loved her Wayne who she wed on January 01, 1966, they had a great little life together in their humble home, always enjoying the others’ company, gardening, her flowers, going to church, trips, and so very proud of their grandkids. Heaven has gotten much sweeter with her being there and she would be the first to tell you how important it was to prepare to be there. She left a mark on the lives she encountered, an impression most will never forget that knew her. She will be missed. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years just 17 days on her birthday August 09, 2024, Wayne Whitt, and one infant sister. She is survived by one son; Steven W. Whitt (Samantha), three grandchildren; Cody Matthew Whitt, Thomas Ardith Whitt, and Victoria Ann Whitt, three bonus grandchildren; Bryalee, Laynee, and Kolmen. One very special sister who she loved dearly; Blanche Reed, along with a host of nieces, nephews, brothers and sister’s in-laws, church family, extended family and friends who will sadly mourn her passing. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 30, 2024 at Upper Bruin Enterprise Baptist Church, on Rt. 409 in Elliott County, Kentucky with Bro. Reggie Dickerson, Bro. Jesse McDavid, and Bro. Tim Porter officiating. Burial will follow at the Whitt Cemetery in Olive Hill, Kentucky. Friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. Friday August 30, 2024 at Upper Bruin Enterprise Baptist Church until the hour of service. Serving as pallbearers will be family and friends.
