David Jackson Peters

David Jackson Peters Born December 24th, 1938 to the late Paul Jones Peters and Elda Hay Peters; as their only son. Left his loving family at his home on Middle Fork Road in Elliott County, Kentucky on March 24th, 2024 following a brief illness. He is survived by the love of his life, Ruth Lewis Peters; with whom, he celebrated 65 years of marriage on December 31st, 2023. David was the father of three children whom he loved: Sonya (Mitchell) Porter; Mike (Janet) Peters and Tonya (Craig) Estep Dotson. He is also survived by his Grandchildren; who were the light of his life: Lauren (Wes) Porter Tudor; Aaron Peters, Nick (Rachel) Porter and Luke Estep. They adored him as he did them. “Tata”, a title his first grandchild, Lauren, bestowed on him; is what he was affectionately known as. Also leaves behind Great-Grandchildren: Jaxon Porter, Gideon Tudor, Lydia Porter, Emerson Tudor and a new granddaughter on the way. Additionally, he is survived by two sisters, Barbara (Lawrence) Adkins and Janet Peters Stinson. As well as a host of nieces and nephews and extended family and friends. He was proceeded in death by his Parents, Sisters: Imogene (Charles) Oliver, Pauline (Darrel) Phillips, Etta Mae (Bill) Rigsby, Son-in-law – Brett Estep. David was of the Christian faith. David was a lover of life, laughter, music and everything outdoors. He spent his entire life sharing those things with all he cherished. He was a man of many talents; wore many hats and was never afraid of a challenge or hard work. He was a Carpenter, Pipefitter, Oil Producer, Coal Miner, Farmer, Logger, Heavy Equipment Operator, Shriner, Mason, Tanker in United States Army and much more. More than those titles he was a dreamer and enjoyed sharing his life adventures, stories and wisdom with all that would listen. He was bold and has been described as “uniquely and unapologetically himself” and “a character”. David and Ruth shared their home with over 60 foster children, embracing them as their own during the time spent in their home. Family will receive friends after 5 p.m. on Wednesday, 3/27/24 with Masonic Rights at 7 p.m. and after 1 p.m. on Thursday, 3/28/24 until time of service at 2 p.m. Burial will be in the Whispering Pines Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Whitt and Sons Funeral Home.
