Carrie Salyers

Carrie Alice Edwards Salyers, 72, of Wallowhole School Road, Sandy Hook, Kentucky, departed this earthly life and entered her heavenly home on Thursday, July 30, 2026. Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we find comfort in knowing she is at peace in the presence of her Lord and Savior, reunited with the loved ones who had gone before her. Carrie was born on February 6, 1954, in Blaine, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Morton and Mae Robinson Edwards. Carrie was of the Christian faith and a devoted member of the Wallowhole Freewill Baptist Church. Known as Mam by her loved ones, she lived a life defined by love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to those she held dear. She touched the lives of many through her caring and generous heart, gentle spirit, and the special way she made everyone who entered her home feel welcome. Carrie found great joy in working in her garden. Each spring, she started her tomatoes from seed and lovingly grew some of the best green beans and sweet corn around. She delighted in sharing the fruits of her labor with family, friends, and neighbors. She was well known for her beautiful garden and the colorful flowers and shrubs that surrounded her home, a reflection of the care and pride she poured into everything she did No one ever left Carrie's home hungry. She had a servant's heart and found great happiness in preparing delicious home-cooked meals, making everyone who gathered around her table feel like family. Carrie was also blessed with a creative spirit. She had a talent for making beautiful wreaths, bows, and other handmade crafts, which she lovingly shared with family and friends. Whether tending her garden, preparing a meal, or creating something beautiful with her hands, Carrie found joy in giving to others. Above all, Carrie will be remembered for the love she gave so freely, the kindness she showed so effortlessly, and the lasting impact she made on everyone blessed to know her. Though her earthly journey has ended, her legacy of faith, generosity, and unconditional love will continue to live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. In addition to her parents, Carrie was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Martin Salyers; her son, Richard Scott Salyers; her brothers, Johnny Edwards and Lonnie Edwards; and her sisters, Sarah McDowell, Linda Lou Collier, and Karen Salyers. Left to cherish her memory are her loving daughter, Missy (David) Eldridge of Sandy Hook, Kentucky; her granddaughter, Katlyn Eldridge of St. Albans, West Virginia; her grandsons, Travis Salyers and Matthew Eldridge, both of Sandy Hook, Kentucky; her great-grandsons, Connor Smith and Ryan Smith, both of St. Albans, West Virginia; her great-granddaughters, Lillian Salyers, Aubrey Salyers, and Everlee Salyers, all of Willard, Kentucky; her sisters, Jenny Walker of Columbus, Ohio, Rosalee Rigsby of Louisa, Kentucky, and Sharon Stamper of Flat Gap, Kentucky as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends, and neighbors who will forever treasure her memory. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Sunday, August 02, 2026, at the Wallowhole Independent Baptist Church with Bro. Dwayne Laney officiating. Friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until the service hour at the funeral home Sunday.
